Traits Of Irresistible People (TIP) # 15: Uphold high values

We all love working and being around people that live by high stands because we find them to be ethical thus dependable and reliable. In its simplest definition, values are the fundamental beliefs we uphold, the guiding principles that dictate how we should behave and act. A person’s values help them know the difference between right wrong, and they help in determining if the person is on the right path to fulfilling their goals.
When our actions and words are aligned with our values, life is generally good and we feel content, confident and satisfied. But when our behaviors don’t match-up with our values, we soon begin to sense an uneasiness that begins to swell and grow inside of us. This uncomfortable feeling tells us that not all is good with the world right now. We feel out-of-touch and generally out-of-sorts. These feelings can be a source of anxiety and unhappiness.
Making a deliberate and conscious attempt to identity which values are the most important is needed to keep your anxiety low and your happiness and sense of personal worth and self-awareness high. Our lives can become less stressful, and more productive, when we acknowledge our personal values and then make the attempt to live by and honor these values regardless of the circumstances we encounter.
When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us. When values are shared, they build internal cohesion. Individual values reflect how we show up in life and our specific needs-the principles we live by and what we consider important for our self-interests.
All men are thrust into tough situations from time to time…situations where the right thing to do isn’t obvious. Knowing which values are most important to you before these situations arise will help you make better decisions. The way you react to challenging emotional situations can shed light on the type of values you hold. Some people meet hardship with negative emotion, while others put on a brave face in order to tackle it directly.
In case you are still unsure about your values, review how you respond to tough and intimate situations because those are some of our most vulnerable moments as human beings. Take the time to evaluate how you show up in such circumstances and analyse the underlying values of driving forces that cause you to respond the way you respond.
Our values are important because they help us to grow and develop. They help us to create the future we want to experience. Every individual is involved in making hundreds of decisions every day. The decisions we make are a reflection of our values and beliefs, and they are always directed towards a specific purpose. That purpose is the satisfaction of our individual needs.
